About Ashmont Hill

Ashmont Hill was an American urban contemporary gospel quartet based in Boston, Massachusetts. The group was formed in 2008 and consisted of four members: Phil Thompson, April Joy Mtyora, Deborah Bullock, and Wil Bullock. All four were part of the Jubilee Christian Church in Boston, where their father served as Bishop. The group signed with Axiom Records that same year. Their musical style was described as an amalgam of black gospel and white contemporary Christian music influences.

The group released its self-titled debut album, Ashmont Hill, in 2008. The album reached No. 10 on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart and No. 16 on the Christian Albums chart. They followed with Your Masterpiece in 2010, which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart. A third album, The Maze, was released in 2013. The group also recorded singles including "Song of Glory," "Love Lifted Me" (2012), "Grace Like a Flood," and a cover of "Blessed Be Your Name."

Ashmont Hill announced their breakup in 2018 so that members could pursue individual opportunities. Founding member Phil Thompson later continued his career as a solo worship leader and artist.
