Maana ninyi wenyewe mnajua yakini ya kuwa siku ya Bwana yaja kama vile mwivi ajavyo usiku.
For you are fully aware that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

Wakati wasemapo, Kuna amani na salama, ndipo uharibifu uwajiapo kwa ghafula, kama vile utungu umjiavyo mwenye mimba, wala hakika hawataokolewa.
While people are saying, “Peace and security,” destruction will come upon them suddenly, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

Bali ninyi, ndugu, hammo gizani, hata siku ile iwapate kama mwivi.
But you, brothers, are not in the darkness so that this day should overtake you like a thief.

Kwa kuwa ninyi nyote mmekuwa wana wa nuru, na wana wa mchana; sisi si wa usiku, wala wa giza.
For you are all sons of the light and sons of the day; we do not belong to the night or to the darkness.

Basi tusilale usingizi kama wengine, bali tukeshe, na kuwa na kiasi.
So then, let us not sleep as the others do, but let us remain awake and sober.

Maana walalao usingizi hulala usiku, pia na walewao hulewa usiku.
For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.

Lakini sisi tulio wa mchana, tuwe na kiasi, hali tukijivika kifuani imani na upendo, na chapeo yetu iwe tumaini la wokovu.
But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and the helmet of our hope of salvation.

Kwa kuwa Mungu hakutuweka kwa hasira yake, bali tupate wokovu, kwa Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo;
For God has not appointed us to suffer wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

ambaye alikufa kwa ajili yetu, ili tuishi pamoja naye, kwamba twakesha au kwamba twalala.
He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him.

Therefore encourage and build one another up, just as you are already doing.

But we ask you, brothers, to acknowledge those who work diligently among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you.

In love, hold them in highest regard because of their work. Live in peace with one another.

Ndugu, twawasihi, waonyeni wale wasiokaa kwa utaratibu; watieni moyo walio dhaifu; watieni nguvu wanyonge; vumilieni na watu wote.
And we urge you, brothers, to admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, and be patient with everyone.

Angalieni mtu awaye yote asimlipe mwenziwe mabaya kwa mabaya; bali siku zote lifuateni lililo jema, ninyi kwa ninyi na kwa watu wote.
Make sure that no one repays evil for evil. Always pursue what is good for one another and for all people.

Furahini siku zote;
Rejoice at all times.

ombeni bila kukoma;
Pray without ceasing.

shukuruni kwa kila jambo; maana hayo ni mapenzi ya Mungu kwenu katika Kristo Yesu.
Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Msimzimishe Roho;
Do not extinguish the Spirit.

msitweze unabii;
Do not treat prophecies with contempt,

jaribuni mambo yote; lishikeni lililo jema;
but test all things. Hold fast to what is good.

jitengeni na ubaya wa kila namna.
Abstain from every form of evil.

Mungu wa amani mwenyewe awatakase kabisa; nanyi nafsi zenu na roho zenu na miili yenu mhifadhiwe mwe kamili, bila lawama, wakati wa kuja kwake Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo.
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your entire spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Yeye ni mwaminifu ambaye awaita, naye atafanya.
The One who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.
