Thando - Have You Heard What The Lord Has Done (Oseiye) Lyrics
Lyrics
Have you heard what the Lord has done?
He has destroyed the works of satan
He has given us Victory
That’s why we sing Ose e
Ose Iye
Ose Iye
We don win o
Ose Iye
Pata Pata o
Ose Iye
We don win o
Osei Ye
Have you heard what the Lord has done?
He has destroyed the works of satan
He has given us Victory
That’s why we sing Ose e
Lifting Jesus Higher
Osei ye
We don win o
Osei Ye
Have you heard what the Lord has done?
He has destroyed the works of satan
He has given us Victory
That’s why we sing Ose e
Ose Iye
Ose Iye
We don win o
Ose Iye
Pata Pata o
Ose Iye
We don win o
Osei Ye

Meaning & Inspiration
When Thando shared Osei ye with us back in the spring of 2015, the music brought a necessary jolt of kinetic energy to our worship. It strips away the pretense of complicated theology to get right to the marrow of the gospel: the finished work of Christ. The central refrain, that the Lord has destroyed the works of satan, acts as a modern anthem of Colossians 2:15, where Paul writes that Jesus disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame by triumphing over them in the cross. It is not a request for victory, but an acknowledgment of a war already settled. When the lyrics declare that He has given us victory, it shifts our perspective from desperate fighters trying to win a battle to soldiers walking in the spoils of a king who already claimed the ground.
The repetition of Ose Iye—a phrase celebrating God's great work—functions much like the psalmist’s call in Psalm 105:1 to make known His deeds among the peoples. It is a loud, unapologetic declaration that we have won, not by our own tactical brilliance or spiritual grit, but because the Lion of the Tribe of Judah has already roared on our behalf. There is an infectious, rhythmic insistence here that challenges the believer to stop acting like a victim. If the works of the devil are destroyed, then the chains that once bound us have no legal standing. We are left with the mandate to lift Jesus higher, keeping our eyes fixed on the author and perfecter of our faith who settled the score once and for all. True worship isn't just about singing; it is about agreeing with heaven that the enemy’s power is nothing more than a defeated shadow in the light of the resurrection. Stop living like you are still waiting for the outcome when the debt is paid and the battle is finished.
