Jesus Image - All Is For Your Glory Lyrics

Lyrics

Chorus: Steffany Gretzinger
All is for Your glory
All is for Your name
All is for Your glory
That in all things You would have the first place
And that in all things You would have preeminence

Interlude: Steffany Gretzinger
Yeah
Yeah

Verse 1: Steffany Gretzinger
There's one thing chief end to man's purpose
And one main reason for existence
All man's vain and high ambitions
Will one day be brought low
Will one day be brought low

Interlude: Steffany Gretzinger
Yeah
Yeah

Verse 2: Steffany Gretzinger
To treasure You
To treasure You above all others
To love You like we love no other
Your greatness soon will be uncovered
And all the earth will then know
And all the earth will then know

Pre-Chorus
For You alone will be exalted in that day
And earthly goals will be exposed as idols that we've made
For You alone will be exalted in that day
And You'll be seen as rightful King and from our hearts, we'll say

Chorus: Steffany Gretzinger
All is for Your glory
And all is for Your name, yes, it is
All is for Your glory
That in all things You would have the first place
That in all things You would have preeminence, oh
And all is for Your glory, oh
And all is for Your name
And all is for Your glory
That in all things You would have the first place
And that in all things You would have preeminence

Post-Chorus: Steffany Gretzinger
So put me anywhere, just put Your glory in me
And I'll serve anywhere, just let me see Your beauty
Put me anywhere, just put Your glory in me
And I'll serve anywhere, just let me see Your beauty
Oh God
Oh God, we wanna see You, see You rightly
Oh God, oh, how we need the whole Christ
Oh God, open up our eyes
Oh God
Oh God, I wanna see You
Oh God, I wanna see You
Oh God, oh

Bridge: Steffany Gretzinger
So catch me up in Your story
All my life, for Your glory
Catch me up in Your story
All my life, for Your glory
Catch me up in Your story
All my life, for Your glory
Catch me up in Your story
All my life
My God, my joy, and my delight
My God, my joy (My delight), whoo!
And my God, my joy, You're my delight
My God, my joy, yeah (My delight)
So catch me up in Your story
All my life, for Your glory
Catch me up in Your story
All my life, for Your glory (Whoo!)
So catch me up in Your story
All my life, for Your glory
Catch me up in Your story (Whoo!)
All my life, for Your glory
All my life, all my life

Post-Chorus: Steffany Gretzinger
So put me anywhere, just put Your glory in me
And I'll serve anywhere, I just have to see Your beauty
Oh, put me anywhere, just put Your glory in me
And I'll serve anywhere, just let me see Your beauty
Oh God, tell Him He's beautiful
Sing it out, oh God, oh, You are beautiful
Oh, You're so beautiful, God
Oh, tell Him He's beautiful
Oh, yes, You are
Yes, You are, yes, You are

Chorus: Steffany Gretzinger
And all is for Your glory
And all is for Your name, Jesus
And all is for Your glory
That in all things You would have the first place
That in all things You would have preeminence

Outro: Steffany Gretzinger
Oh God
Oh God
Beautiful Jesus
Oh, ooh
Oh
All I am, all I have, hope to be
For You, for You, Your glory
For Your glory
All for Your glory
Endlessly worthy
Endlessly worthy
Endlessly worthy
Oh, my Jesus
Oh, we surrender all to You, oh
All to You
We gladly surrender all to You, yes
All for Your glory, all for Your name
All for Jesus, all for Jesus
We surrender, oh
We surrender
Fully given over, oh
All to Jesus we surrender
We are fully given over
All to Jesus we surrender
We are fully given over
All to Jesus we surrender...

Meaning & Inspiration

Steffany Gretzinger and the team at Jesus Image are leaning hard into a big theological claim here: “All man’s vain and high ambitions / Will one day be brought low.” It sounds great when the lights are low and the room is full of people swaying in unison. It’s the kind of line that feels like solid ground.

But try saying that while staring at a termination letter on your kitchen table, or sitting in a funeral home when the casket is closed and the air feels thin. When your life’s ambition—whether it was a career you spent decades building or a marriage you thought was a sure thing—hasn’t just been "brought low" but shattered, those lyrics don't feel like a chorus. They feel like a threat.

"All is for Your glory." We throw that phrase around like confetti at a wedding, but if we’re being honest, it’s often a cheap way to bypass the actual wreckage of human suffering. If my life is meant for His glory, what does that look like when my life looks like a failure? Does God get glory from my depression? From my silence? If I’m not careful, this becomes a high-octane form of gaslighting, where any personal pain is just another prop for a cosmic show I never asked to star in.

The song pivots to "put me anywhere, just put Your glory in me." It’s an easy prayer to sing when you’re standing in a climate-controlled room. It’s a terrifying one to live. The Apostle Paul writes in Romans 8:18 that the sufferings of this present time aren't worth comparing to the glory that will be revealed. I want to believe that, I really do. But some days, the suffering feels like the only thing that’s real. To say it's all for His glory feels like a massive, jagged pill to swallow.

I look at the bridge—"catch me up in Your story." It sounds poetic, but reality is usually a lot more mundane and a lot less heroic than a "story." Real life isn't a narrative arc with a tidy third-act resolution. It’s a Tuesday, the bills are late, the house is too quiet, and I’m wondering if God is actually watching or if I’m just shouting into a vacuum.

If the "preeminence" the song talks about—that Christ would have first place in all things—is true, then it has to be true in the parts of my life that aren't glorious. It has to survive the laundry, the grief, the doubts, and the days when I don't feel "surrendered" at all. If it’s just a song to get us hyped about a vague, golden future, it’s just noise. If it’s an invitation to hold onto something—or someone—while the floor drops out, then maybe there’s something here. But I’m still waiting to see if it holds up when the music stops.
