Meaning & Inspiration
I Come To You is a song of coming to God in weakness and finding compassion. The first verse says the singer belongs to God, is still in His presence, and finds weakness met with compassion as He calls closer. The chorus asks to be brought to the precious sight at the feet of Christ and led to His bleeding side.
The second verse describes the holy place where imperfect meets divine and the stains of the past have been taken and are remembered no more. The channel says that by His stripes there is healing and by His glory the singer is filled, marred in His hands and asking Him to fashion the singer again, and the bridge lifts arms and praise as a battle cry. The themes follow Isaiah 53:5, Isaiah 64:8, Hebrews 8:12 and Psalm 24:3-4. The slow build and repeated approach to the cross give it a reverent, hopeful tone.
