Verse 1

The Son of God
The heart of Heaven
Given to us
Oh Hallelujah

Chorus

And oh how gracious is the God
Who came to us
How wonderful and righteous
Is His love
Our Jesus
And oh through the suffering
And the hatred of the cross
He gathered every hope
We thought was lost
Our Jesus

We are in awe
Of what love has done
You delivered us
Oh Hallelujah

Meaning & Inspiration

Our Jesus is a worship song that marvels at the Son of God given to the world. The first verse names Him the Son of God and a gift from heaven, followed by hallelujah. The chorus says how gracious and wonderful the God is who came to humanity, how righteous His love is, and that through the suffering and hatred of the cross He gathered every hope that people thought was lost, always returning to the words "Our Jesus."

The second verse says the singers are in awe of what love has done and that He delivered them, again followed by hallelujah. A short tag repeats the hallelujah, and the chorus returns twice before a final repeat of the name Jesus. The themes follow John 1:14 on the Word becoming flesh and dwelling among people, Romans 5:8 on love shown while people were still sinners, and Isaiah 53:5 on being wounded for transgressions. The short, repeated chorus and simple phrases give the song a reverent, thankful tone suited to congregational worship.
