About White Heart
White Heart was an American contemporary Christian music and pop-rock band formed in 1982. The group was founded by musicians who had previously performed with the Bill Gaither Trio, including Billy Smiley and Mark Gersmehl. The original lineup featured Billy Smiley, Mark Gersmehl, Steve Green, Gary Lunn, and brothers Dann and David Huff.
Rick Florian joined the band as lead vocalist in 1986. Throughout its history, White Heart experienced frequent personnel changes, with Smiley and Gersmehl serving as the core members. Between 1982 and 1997, the band released thirteen albums, including White Heart (1982), Vital Signs (1984), Hotline (1985), Don't Wait for the Movie (1986), Emergency Broadcast (1987), Freedom (1989), Powerhouse (1990), and Redemption (1997).
On November 6, 2010, White Heart was inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame. Following the release of their 1997 album Redemption, the band entered an indefinite sabbatical.
