Watoto Children's Choir

The Watoto Children’s Choir is a gospel ministry ensemble based at Watoto Church in Kampala, Uganda. Founded in 1994 as part of the Watoto Child Care Ministries, the choir is composed of children who have lost one or both parents to war or the AIDS epidemic. The ministry was established by Gary Skinner and his wife, Marylin.

The choir tours internationally, using music to raise awareness and support for Watoto orphanages and community programs. Their performances, known as “Concerts of Hope,” blend African rhythms, contemporary gospel music, and storytelling. The choir travels with a team of adult chaperones who oversee logistics and care for the children during tours.

Over the years, the Watoto Children’s Choir has performed at notable venues including the White House and the UK Houses of Parliament. Their recorded catalog includes songs such as “Mambo Number 5,” “Beautiful Africa,” “What Is Love,” “Wherever You Will Go,” “Dancing In The House Of The Lord,” “Live In LA,” and “Ana Meremata.” The choir also appears on the track “Send Us.”

Through their music and international presence, the Watoto Children’s Choir shares stories of faith, resilience, and hope, drawing attention to the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children in Uganda.
