Walt Mills

Walt Mills (1936–2020) was a gospel singer, songwriter, and evangelistic minister born in Dallas, Texas. He attended Bible college in Waxahachie, Texas, and began full-time evangelistic work in March 1959. A musician who played both guitar and banjo, Mills dedicated his life to spreading the gospel through music and preaching.

Mills and his wife, Betty, hosted two Christian television programs, Revivals in the Land on TBN and Behold the Glory on TCT, for more than twenty years. His television ministry reached a broad audience, and he was recognized as ICGMA Top Television Personality in 1995. In 1993, the International Country Gospel Music Association named him Mr. ICGMA of 1993, also referred to as Artist of the Decade. He was later inducted into the ICGMA Hall of Fame and the Texas Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

Over the course of his career, Walt Mills recorded approximately twenty projects with three major music companies. His song catalog includes titles such as “I’m on My Way to Heaven,” “Holy Spirit, Flow Through Me,” “I’ve Got a Feeling,” “The Devil’s in the Phone Booth Dialing 911,” “Where the Timbers Cross,” “The Journey Gets Sweeter Every Day,” “He Loves You,” and “Cast Your Care Upon Him.” Through his recordings and television programs, Mills left a lasting body of work in Southern Gospel music.
