About Vicki Yohe
Vicki Yohe is a gospel singer, songwriter, and worship leader. She was born on July 13, 1965, in Normal, Illinois, and raised in Rapid City, South Dakota. The daughter of a minister, she began singing and writing music at age five. At age nineteen, she started serving as a music director at a church near Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and also recorded her self-titled independent debut album, Vicki Yohe.
In 1994, Yohe signed with Giant Records and released the album Everlasting Love. She continued to build her catalog with projects such as He Knows My Heart (1997) and Christmas Presence (2000). She later signed with CeCe Winans’ label, PureSprings Gospel, releasing the album I Just Want You in 2003.
Yohe is known for her signature songs “The Mercy Seat” and “Because of Who You Are.” The latter earned her a nomination for a 2004 GMA Dove Award for Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song of the Year. Her album He’s Been Faithful (2005) also received a Stellar Award nomination. Over the years, she has performed on Christian television programs, including TBN’s Praise the Lord.
In addition to her music career, Yohe has been committed to international ministry. In 2005, she founded an orphanage in Uganda called New Destiny for Children. Her later albums include Reveal Your Glory: Live from the Cathedral (2009) and I’m at Peace (2011).
