The Wiebes

The Wiebes are a Canadian musical duo consisting of married couple Shane and Angela Wiebe, known for their work in the Christian and gospel music industry. The duo formed in 2009 and is based in Stratford, Ontario. Operating as an independent, self-managed act, they have focused their career on music that reflects their faith, performing at churches and Christian retreats.

Shane Wiebe first gained public recognition as a top-five contestant on the second season of the television show Canadian Idol. With Angela, he launched The Wiebes, releasing their debut album Into Your Light in 2009. That same year they also issued a holiday release, Christmas With You, which reached the Canadian “AC Top 50” charts. The duo followed with Restore The Wonder in 2010.

The Wiebes’ work has been recognized by the Covenant Awards, the annual honors of the Gospel Music Association of Canada. Their album Into Your Light won Inspirational Album of the Year at the 2010 Covenant Awards. They would go on to win a second Covenant Award for their 2011 collection The Hymns Collection. A later album, Arise O Sleeper, was released in 2014.

In addition to their musical partnership, Shane and Angela are parents to two children, Joelle and Josiah, who have occasionally traveled with them while on tour. The Wiebes continue to work independently, creating music within the Christian and gospel genres.
