The Songwriter Initiative

The Songwriter Initiative (TSI) is a music collective and collaborative ministry based at the Center for Worship Leadership at Concordia University Irvine. Dedicated to creating original worship resources for the church, the initiative brings together a community of songwriters with the goal of supporting modern writers and serving the broader church-at-large.

TSI’s original worship music is often associated with the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS) church body. Music production for the collective frequently involves collaborators such as Kip Fox and Justin Ostrander. The resources created by TSI, including sheet music and charts, are distributed through platforms like WeaveWorship.com, making them accessible to congregations and worship teams.

The collective’s catalog of worship songs includes “Here in the Water,” “Emmanuel (I Call It Kindness),” “Gone,” “Your Will Be Done,” “Peace,” “The Lamb of Sacrifice (Agnus Dei),” “Psalm 46 (A River),” and “Without Hesitation.” These releases reflect the initiative’s commitment to providing theologically grounded, congregation-friendly music for corporate worship.
