TAYA

TAYA, born Taya Smith, is a worship leader and vocalist known for her work with Hillsong UNITED and Hillsong Worship. She grew up in Lismore, Australia, and moved to Sydney in 2010 to pursue a music career. Shortly after arriving, she began volunteering in youth and young adult ministries at Hillsong Church. Her vocal contributions soon brought her into the spotlight as a lead singer for Hillsong UNITED, most notably on the global worship anthem “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)” and on “Touch The Sky.” She has since served as a worship leader for both Hillsong UNITED and Hillsong Worship.

“Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)” earned Song of the Year at the 2014 GMA Dove Awards and held the number-one spot on the Billboard Top Christian Songs chart for 61 weeks. TAYA has contributed to projects that have accumulated over one billion global streams. Her recorded work with Hillsong helped establish her as a prominent voice in modern congregational music.

In 2022 TAYA released her self-titled debut solo album, TAYA, which included the songs “For All My Life” and “Gonna Be Good.” She followed that with her sophomore album, The Reminder, in 2025, featuring tracks such as “In This Place” and “Whole Heart (Hold Me Now).” The albums showcase her continued commitment to creating music that directs attention toward faith in Jesus. TAYA is married to Ben Gaukrodger.
