Steven Furtick

Steven Furtick (born Larry Stevens Furtick Jr. on February 19, 1980) is an American pastor, author, and songwriter. He is best known as the founder and lead pastor of Elevation Church, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Furtick holds a Master of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and has also built a career as a New York Times best-selling author, writing books including Sun Stand Still, Greater, and Crash the Chatterbox.

In 2007, Furtick helped found the music group Elevation Worship, serving as a songwriter and composer for the ministry. Among the songs he has written are “Graves into Gardens,” “Jireh,” and “Old Come to the Altar.” He also contributed as a songwriter and performer on “The Blessing (Live),” as well as a songwriter on “I Know A Name,” “Praise,” and “Wait On You.” In addition, Furtick appeared as a featured artist on the song “RATTLE!”

Furtick’s work in Christian music has earned him a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for Old Church Basement. He has also received multiple Grammy Award nominations in categories including Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song and Best Gospel Performance/Song. Through his leadership at Elevation Church and his contributions to Elevation Worship, Furtick continues to be active as a songwriter and pastor.
