About Soul Survivor
Soul Survivor was a Christian movement and worship collective based in Watford, Hertfordshire, England. Founded in 1993 by Mike Pilavachi and Matt Redman, the organization centered on youth ministry and hosted annual summer festivals and other events. The movement’s musical output was primarily captured through live worship albums recorded during these gatherings, and it operated its own record label, Survivor Records, established in 1997.
The collective’s house band featured a rotating group of worship leaders, including Beth Croft, Tom Smith, and Tim Hughes. Soul Survivor released a series of live albums over the years: Light the Sky (2010), We Are the Free (2011), Kingdom Come (2012), The Flood (2013), Love Takes Over (2015), Never Gonna Stop (2016), The Promise (2017), and Standing on the Edge (2018). These albums served as musical snapshots of the worship experienced at the festivals.
The organization concluded its major summer festival events in 2019. In addition to the movement and its music, Soul Survivor remains the name of a local church in Watford that holds weekly worship services.
