Sojourn Music

Sojourn Music is a musical collective and worship arts ministry based at Sojourn Community Church in Louisville, Kentucky. Formed in 2000, the group is made up of musicians from a variety of backgrounds, including jazz, country, pop, indie, and punk rock. Founding member Mike Cosper served as the church’s Pastor of Worship & Arts, and the collective creates music intended for congregational singing, personal contemplation, and worship services.

The group’s songwriting often incorporates themes of lament, praise, and Christian teaching. Sojourn Music has released multiple albums over the years, including Before the Throne in 2007, Over the Grave: The Hymns Of Isaac Watts, Volume 1 in 2009, and The Water and the Blood: The Hymns of Isaac Watts in 2011. These projects reflect the collective’s commitment to adapting historical hymns for modern worship. Additional releases include the Christmas album A Child Is Born (2011), the album New Again (2015), and the EP Lead Me Home (2019). Among the songs in their catalog are “Absent From Flesh” and “Only Your Blood.”

Beyond their local ministry, Sojourn Music has led worship at national conferences for organizations such as The Gospel Coalition and Acts 29. Their collaborative approach and focus on theologically driven music have defined their work as a church-based collective.
