About Sandra McCracken
Sandra McCracken is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter, author, and creative leader whose work in modern hymnody and gospel-roots music has made her a recognized voice in Christian music. Born Sandra Marie McCracken on June 16, 1977, in St. Louis, Missouri, she graduated from Belmont University in 1999 and built a career drawing from folk, gospel, and hymn traditions, often incorporating scripture into her songs.
A founding member of the Indelible Grace artist collective, McCracken has released 18 solo albums over more than twenty-five years. Her discography includes The Crucible (2000), Psalms (2015), God’s Highway (2017), Patient Kingdom (2020), and Light in the Canyon (2022). Songs such as “We Will Feast in the House of Zion,” “Steadfast,” and “Thy Mercy My God” have become part of her catalog, reflecting her blend of congregational hymnody and Americana.
Beyond recording, McCracken is the author of the book Send Out Your Light (2021) and serves as the Dean of Imagination and Creativity at the Goldenwood Institute. Her album God’s Highway reached the Billboard Heatseekers chart, and in 2023 she won the GMA Dove Award for Bluegrass/Country/Roots Album of the Year for Light in the Canyon.
