Sanchez

Sanchez, known as “The Golden Voice of Reggae,” is a Jamaican reggae singer whose music has consistently incorporated gospel themes. He was born Kevin Anthony Jackson on November 30, 1964, in Kingston, Jamaica, and derived his stage name from his football skills. Sanchez began his singing career in the Rehoboth Apostolic Church choir in St Catherine, Jamaica, and gained prominence in the late 1980s with hits such as “Loneliness” and “Lady in Red.”

Since his 1988 debut, Sanchez has released over 30 albums. His 2000 album Simply Being Me reached number 14 on the US Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart, and his 2002 album Stays on My Mind peaked at number 9 on the same chart. In 2002, he won the Songwriter of the Year award from The Martin International Awards for the song “Frenzy.”

Throughout his career, Sanchez has integrated his faith into his music, releasing dedicated gospel albums and performing gospel songs. Among his gospel recordings are covers of “Amazing Grace” and “Goodness of God,” the latter recorded to express his faith. His catalog also includes tracks such as “I Can’t Wait,” “Never Dis Di Man,” “One In A Million,” and “Praise Him,” reflecting the gospel and devotional side of his reggae artistry.
