Rick Founds

Rick Founds is a Christian singer, songwriter, and worship leader based in Fallbrook, California. He is best known for writing the worship song “Lord, I Lift Your Name on High,” which was released in 1989. Raised in the Lutheran Christian tradition, Founds began leading worship in his local church at age 14 and later served as a Minister of Music at a California church for fourteen years.

Over the course of his ministry, Founds has authored more than three hundred songs, many of which are used in worship services globally. In addition to his songwriting, he previously taught media technology at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California. His song catalog includes other compositions such as “I Love Your Grace,” “Jesus, Mighty God,” “I Need You,” and “Jesus, Draw Me Close.” In 2004, he released the albums After All, Everybody Praise Him!, and Carry Me Away.

The impact of “Lord, I Lift Your Name on High” has been widely recognized. According to CCLI, it was the most popular song used in Christian evangelical churches in the United States from 1997 to 2003. In 2018, Founds received the CCLI GMA Honors Milestone Award in recognition of the song’s lasting use in congregational worship. His career reflects a long-standing commitment to writing music that serves the church.
