Redimi2, the stage name of Willy González Cruz, is a Dominican Christian rapper and songwriter recognized as a pioneer of Christian rap in the Dominican Republic. Born on June 3, 1979, in Santo Domingo, he began his music career in 1999 as part of the group Redimi2 Squad alongside his brother JG. After other members left the group, he adopted the name Redimi2 as his solo artist identity and later founded his own record label, Redimi2 Records Inc.
His music blends Christian hip-hop with Latin hip-hop, reggaeton, and trap. Over the years, he has released albums including Combinación Mortal (2000), Hasta Los Dientes (2004), Revolución (2006), Exterminador Operación P.R. (2011), Pura Sal (2017), Trapstornadores (2018), and 20/20 (2020). In 2021, he collaborated with Evan Craft and Danny Gokey on the single "Be Alright," which reached number 2 on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart.
Redimi2’s work has earned several Arpa Awards. He won Best Urban Album for Más (with Funky) in 2013, Best Collaborative Song for "Espíritu Santo" (with Barak) in 2015, and Best Urban Album or Track for UNO (with Alex Zurdo and Funky) in 2022. He has also received the U.S. Lifetime Achievement Award for his career contributions.
Married to Daliza Contreras since 2005, the couple has a daughter named Samantha González. Through his music and ministry, Redimi2 continues to share his faith, remaining a significant figure in Christian urban music.
