Recon

Recon was a Christian power metal band that originated in Los Angeles, California, in 1987. The band was founded by guitarist George Ochoa. Its original lineup included Vett Roberts on vocals, Ochoa on lead guitar, Dion Sanchez on bass, and John Christianson on drums. The name Recon is short for “reconnaissance,” reflecting the band’s mission to share the Gospel in what they considered enemy territory.

Recon released their debut full-length studio album, Behind Enemy Lines, in 1990. The album’s songs include “Lost Soldier,” “Ancient of Days,” “Choose This Day,” “Take Us Away,” “Holy Is the Lord,” and “Alive.” The band’s music has been compared to other Christian metal acts such as Stryper, Saint, and Sacred Warrior.

Following the release of their debut album, Recon experienced internal changes and a period of inactivity as members moved to other projects, including the band Deliverance. The group later reunited to release a live album, Live at Cornerstone 2001, in 2001.
