Panam Percy Paul

Panam Percy Paul, born Bakulipanam Percy Paul Mokungah in 1958 in Numan, Adamawa State, is a Nigerian gospel singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He began his musical career at age twenty while an undergraduate at Kaduna Polytechnic. Early in his professional life, he worked as a production supervisor and engineer at Radio ELWA Christian Communications. Over a career that has spanned more than forty years, he has been recognized as a pioneer of contemporary gospel music in Nigeria.

His musical style is described as praise and worship, with influences from country music and African highlife. Among his notable recordings are the albums and songs "Beautiful People" (1976), "Oh Ye Gates" (1978), "Don't You Cry" (1980), "Master of the Universe," "Come Let's Praise the Lord," "By Your Blood," and "My Body Is Your Sanctuary." He has also released a series of albums titled "Bring Down the Glory," and is the author of a book by the same name.

In addition to his music and writing, Panam Percy Paul founded the Panam College of Music Ministry in Jos, Plateau State. His contributions to gospel music have been recognized with several awards, including the FAME Gospel Music Award for Artist of the Year in 1992, the BMI Music Award for Artist of the Year in 1995, and the Crystal Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014.
