About Oslo Gospel Choir
Oslo Gospel Choir is a Norwegian gospel ensemble based in Oslo, founded and conducted by Tore W. Aas in 1988. The choir draws its members, approximately twenty to thirty singers, from various Christian congregations in the city. Their musical style is influenced by American black gospel while also incorporating elements of contemporary praise and worship music.
The choir has performed over 1,500 concerts globally, including tours in Europe and the United States. Over the course of their career, they have released more than thirty albums. They have collaborated with international artists including Andraé Crouch, Sissel Kyrkjebø, and Plácido Domingo.
Among their releases are the albums Get Together, Hallelujah, Det skjedde i de dager, and Join the Celebration - 35 Years of Oslo Gospel Choir. Their catalog includes songs such as “Shine Your Light,” “Glory to God Almighty,” “This is the Lord’s Doing,” and “Worthy of All Praise.” The album Get Together earned the choir a GMA Dove Award for Best International Gospel Album. Additionally, Det skjedde i de dager was certified 3x Platinum in Norway. The group was the best-selling Norwegian recording act of the 1990s, with over 1.5 million albums sold.
The choir has also engaged in significant social and charitable work, raising funds for various international causes. Through their music and ministry, they have played a key role in bringing gospel music to a wider audience in Norway and beyond.
