Miriam Webster

Miriam Webster Sobel is an Australian Pentecostal worship leader and contemporary singer-songwriter who has played a significant role in modern congregational music. She is best known for her years of service with Hillsong Church in Sydney, where she served from 1996 to 2007 and was featured on numerous Hillsong Music praise-and-worship albums beginning in 1997.

During her tenure with Hillsong, Webster helped introduce songs that became staples in many churches, including “Dwelling Places,” “Welcome In This Place,” “You Are Faithful,” and “Exceeding Joy.” She also recorded the worship song “Worthy Is the Lamb” during this period. Her work with the team took her around the world, as she toured internationally through Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and the United States.

Following her time with Hillsong, Webster continued to create music for the church. She released the album Made Me Glad, a collection of worship songs, and later the album Faithful on a separate label. These recordings reflect her ongoing passion for leading worship and writing songs that help congregations connect with God.

In 2018, Webster relocated to the United States. She is married to messianic rabbi Jason Sobel. Her journey from a worship leader in Sydney to an independent artist and ministry collaborator has marked a steady, dedicated path in Christian music.
