About Maurette Brown Clark

Maurette Brown Clark is a gospel singer, songwriter, and worship leader. Born on May 5, 1966, on Long Island, New York, she later earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Maryland. She began her music career performing with her family’s gospel group, the Brown Singers, and went on to become a member of Richard Smallwood’s vocal ensemble, Vision, where she was the featured soloist on the song “Angels” from the 1996 album Adoration: Live in Atlanta.

Brown Clark launched her solo career with the 1998 album How I Feel on Verity Records. She followed with several more albums, including By His Grace (2002), The Dream (2007), The Sound of Victory (2011), and He Loves Me (2024). Among her well-known songs are “It Ain’t Over (Until God Says It’s Over)” and “One God,” both from 2007, and the 2019 single “I Want God.”

Her work has earned multiple honors. She won the Stellar Award for Best New Artist in 2000 for How I Feel and later won the Stellar Award for Praise & Worship CD of the Year in 2009 for The Dream. She also received a Gospel Music Workshop of America Gospel Music Excellence Award for By His Grace. Her song “It Ain’t Over (Until God Says It’s Over)” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Gospel Airplay chart in 2009.

Beyond recording, Brown Clark founded Nettie’s Child Music and Management, a company offering booking and consulting services. She has also served as a radio host for “The Sound of Praise with Maurette Brown Clark” in Baltimore.
