Marvin Morrow

Marvin Morrow is a gospel singer, songwriter, and ordained pastor who has spent decades sharing the gospel through both the pulpit and country gospel music. Born on June 11, 1945, in Wayne County, Tennessee, he grew up on a farm in Lauderdale County, Alabama, and began singing and playing music at the age of ten. In 1975, he accepted a call into the ministry and was ordained the following August. He has since served as a pastor of churches for over fifty years.

Alongside his pastoral work, Morrow has built a musical ministry through Old Ship Ministries, Piney Records, and Old Ship Music Publishing Co., producing gospel music and supporting other artists. He frequently performs and records with his wife, Vernell Morrow, and his recording career has produced numerous CD projects and radio singles within the country gospel genre. His catalog includes songs such as “The Bible Is True After All” (1996), “I’ll Live On the Mountain” (2001), “Reaping From Fields I’ve Never Sown” (2010), “The Power Came Down” (2011), “Holding On to Jesus” (2013), “Walking Thru the Fire” (2015), “Go Tell It Again” (2016), and “Gonna Be Moving” (2021).

Morrow’s songwriting has also reached other artists; his songs have been recorded by groups including The Primitive Quartet and bluegrass legend Dr. Ralph Stanley. Through his dual calling as a pastor and a country gospel musician, and with the support of his wife, Vernell, Marvin Morrow continues to produce and promote gospel music as a vehicle for his lifelong ministry.
