About Mac Powell
Mac Powell, born Johnny Mac Powell on December 25, 1972, in Clanton, Alabama, co-founded the Christian rock band Third Day while attending high school in the Atlanta, Georgia area. He served as the band’s lead singer throughout its nearly three-decade career. Third Day earned four Grammy Awards and 24 Dove Awards, and the group was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. Individually, Powell was named Male Vocalist of the Year at the 2002 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards.
Following Third Day, Powell shifted to a solo Christian music career and currently serves as a worship leader at The Church of the Apostles in Atlanta, Georgia. He released his debut solo Christian album, New Creation, in 2021, which reached No. 1 on the Top Christian & Gospel album chart. He has also released the album I Love Jesus and the single “River of Life.”
In addition to his solo worship work, Powell has explored country music, releasing the album Back Again under the name Mac Powell & The Family Reunion. He is married to his wife, Aimee, and the couple has five children.
