London Community Gospel Choir

The London Community Gospel Choir (LCGC) is a pioneering British gospel ensemble founded in 1982. The choir was initially formed by Reverend Bazil Meade, Lawrence Johnson, Delroy Powell, and John Francis for a single concert. The success of that event led to the establishment of a permanent group. With a mission to spread love, light, and a message of unity through gospel music, LCGC has become known for blending gospel with pop, soul, jazz, R&B, and classical music.

The choir has performed at major events including the FA Cup Final, Glastonbury, Live 8, and the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. They have also appeared on television programs such as Britain's Got Talent, where they reached the semi-finals. LCGC has collaborated with numerous high-profile artists, including Madonna, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Sam Smith, and Adele. The group provided backing vocals for the song "Tender" by Blur and on tracks for the Gorillaz album Demon Days.

Among the choir’s recorded works are the songs "A Life Lived with Grace," which served as the Official Beacons song for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, "Keep Moving," "Sun In The Rain," and "So Good to me." They also released the album Out of Many - One Voice. In 2004, LCGC won the "Best Choir" award at the GEM Awards, and in 2012 they received a special award for Outstanding Contribution to Music at the Brit Awards.
