Liesl Penniken

Liesl Penniken is a South African singer and television presenter with a background in the church and a career that has moved from mainstream pop to gospel music. The daughter of a pastor, she first gained national attention in 2003 as a member of the girl group Jamali, formed on the reality competition Coca-Cola Popstars. She later served as a presenter for the SABC 2 gospel music show Lofprysing and has also worked as a singing coach on Idols SA.

In recent years, Penniken has appeared as a featured vocalist on several recordings by gospel artist Benjamin Dube. She is heard on the songs “The Potter’s House” (with Sicelo Moya), “He’s Done It Before (Live),” and “My Tribute” (with Vashawn Mitchell). These collaborations reflect her continued involvement in gospel music after her early pop career.
