About Judith Babirye

Judith Babirye is a Ugandan gospel musician, pastor, and former politician. She was born on September 23, 1977, in Nyenga, Buikwe District, Uganda. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Tourism from Makerere University in 2001. Her musical career began during her secondary education at Ndejje Senior School and Iganga Secondary School, where she composed school anthems.


Babirye has released multiple albums and songs spanning more than two decades. Her catalog includes early tracks like “Nzijukira” (2004) and “Beera Nange” (2006), along with “Wambatira,” “Omusaayi gwa Yesu,” “Ekitibwa kyo Mukama,” “Maama,” “Yesu Asobola” (2007), and the more recent “Nbooyana” (2023). She won Best Gospel Single for “Beera Nange” at the 2006 Pearl of Africa Music Awards and received Album of the Year at the 2007 Victoria Gospel Music Awards.


In addition to music, Babirye served as a senior pastor at the New Life Deliverance Church in Makindye Division, Kampala. She also served as the elected Member of Parliament for the Buikwe District Women Constituency from 2016 to 2021. She currently resides in Canada, where she is involved in ministry and resettlement work.
