About Jonny Diaz
Jonny Diaz is a contemporary Christian pop artist whose music explores his faith and the realities of daily life. He was born Jonathan Adam Diaz on March 30, 1984, in Lakeland, Florida. Before pursuing music, he attended Florida State University on a baseball scholarship. His career in music began by leading worship for a youth group at First Presbyterian Church in his hometown.
Diaz released his debut independent album, Shades of White, in 2003. He followed with Everyday God (2005) and They Need Love (2007). His major label debut, More Beautiful You, arrived in 2009 through INO Records. The title track became his breakout single, reaching No. 2 on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart that same year. The success earned him a 2010 Dove Award nomination for New Artist of the Year.
He continued releasing albums, including the self-titled Jonny Diaz (2011), Let It Fly (2014), and Hear That Story (2020). His song "Breathe," released in 2015, received Gold certification from the RIAA. Over the years, Diaz has toured with artists such as Matthew West, MercyMe, and Steven Curtis Chapman. His writing is noted for its honest reflection on the challenges of living out one's faith.
