Joanne Cash

Joanne Cash is a singer and songwriter who dedicated her career to gospel music ministry. She is the younger sister of musician Johnny Cash. Raised in Dyess, Arkansas, she began singing spiritual standards in her youth. On October 18, 1970, she experienced a religious conversion that would shape the direction of her life and work.

In 1971, she married Dr. Harry Yates, and the couple engaged in full-time music ministry for fifteen years. From 1972 to 1976, Joanne Cash performed at the Grand Ole Opry as part of “Grand Ole Gospel Time.” Her recorded work includes the album Breaking Down the Barriers and songs such as “My Lord Has Gone” and “On The Rock Where Moses Stood.”

In 1990, she and her husband founded the Nashville Cowboy Church. She is also the author of the autobiography My Fears Are Gone. Her catalog includes numerous albums, among them the career-spanning compilation titled Gospel.
