About I Am They
I Am They was an American contemporary Christian pop and worship band formed in 2008 in Carson City, Nevada. The group originated from a worship ministry called Solomon’s Porch at Calvary Chapel Carson City. Their name is a reference to John 17:16.
The band signed with Provident Label Group’s Essential Records in 2013. Their self-titled debut album, I Am They, was released in 2015 and reached the top 10 on the Billboard Christian Albums chart. The album produced the single “From the Day.” The band’s musical style was characterized by acoustic-driven, folk-pop worship with an emphasis on vocal harmonies.
I Am They followed the debut with the EP The Resting Place in 2016 and the full-length album Trial & Triumph in 2018, which included the single “My Feet Are on the Rock.” In 2019, they released the single “Scars,” and in 2020, the album Faithful God. The group received a nomination for New Artist of the Year at the Dove Awards in 2015.
The band underwent several lineup changes throughout its existence. On September 27, 2022, I Am They announced their disbandment after 14 years of ministry. Their final concert was held and streamed on December 8, 2022.
