Halal Afrika

Halal Afrika is a gospel music collective founded in 2016 in Maryland, USA, by the Onn Brothers and a group of like-minded Africans. The name "Halal" is a Hebrew word meaning "Praise," and the project was created as a platform to bring together people from across Africa to sing gospel songs and share them with a broader global audience.

The collective’s debut album, “My Best Worship,” was released in 2017 following their first event in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2019, the group launched the project “The Moment” during an event in Victoria, South Africa. For their 2022 album “Through It All,” the collective recorded live at the Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria, South Africa; the album was released in 2023.

Halal Afrika has collaborated with a number of prominent gospel artists. These include Joe Mettle, with whom they recorded “God is Good” (also featuring Tim Reddick) and “You No Be Man”; Benjamin Dube, featured on the song “Jesus”; and Ntokozo Mbambo, who appears on “Trust In You.” The collective also released “We Worship Adonai” featuring Oncemore Six. Through these recordings and partnerships, Halal Afrika continues to share African gospel worship music with listeners around the world.
