About Group 1 Crew

Group 1 Crew was an American Christian hip-hop and R&B band formed in Orlando, Florida, in 2003. The original lineup consisted of Jose “Manwell” Reyes, Blanca Callahan, and Pablo Villatoro. Jose “Manwell” Reyes served as the group’s consistent member throughout its active years until 2017. The band was signed to Fervent Records and Word Records.

The group’s music blended hip-hop, pop, and R&B with lyrical themes focused on faith and Christian ministry. They released their self-titled debut studio album, Group 1 Crew, in 2007. That album won the GMA Dove Award for Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year in 2008. The following year, their second album, Ordinary Dreamers (2008), also won the GMA Dove Award for Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year.

The band continued to build on this success with the album Outta Space Love (2010), which earned them another GMA Dove Award for Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year in 2011. That same year, their song “Walking on the Stars” won the Dove Award for Rap/Hip-Hop Recorded Song of the Year. Earlier, in 2010, they had also won the same category for the song “Movin’.” Their discography also includes the albums Fearless (2012) and Power (2016). Songs from the group’s catalog include “Can’t Go On,” “Love is a Beautiful Thing,” “Forgive Me” (which was featured on the television series One Tree Hill), “Walking on the Stars,” and “He Said,” which featured Chris August.
