About Gary McSpadden
Gary McSpadden (1943–2020) was an American singer, songwriter, record producer, television host, and pastor whose voice became a fixture in Southern gospel music. He performed with several of the genre’s most notable groups, including The Statesmen, The Oak Ridge Boys, The Imperials, The Bill Gaither Trio, and the Gaither Vocal Band. McSpadden’s professional singing career began at age eighteen when he filled in for Jake Hess in The Statesmen Quartet.
Beyond his work as a vocalist, McSpadden built a wide-ranging ministry. He hosted faith-based television programs such as PTL Today and The Gary McSpadden Show. He also produced recordings for the Bill Gaither Trio, the Cathedrals, and the Gaither Vocal Band. In 2007 he released a solo album titled Thank You. Among the songs in his catalog are “Jesus Lord To Me,” “Hallelujah Praise The Lamb,” “No Other Name But Jesus,” “Jesus Be Jesus In Me,” and “He Is The King.” McSpadden later served as a pastor at Faith and Wisdom Church in Branson, Missouri.
McSpadden’s contributions to gospel music were recognized with multiple honors. He was inducted into the Texas Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1989, and into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 1998, 1999, and 2000, reflecting the lasting impact of his career as both a performer and a spiritual leader.
