Faith Mussa

Faith Mussa is a Malawian gospel singer, songwriter, and guitarist who performs as a one-man band. He was born Faith Ambudye Che Muphuwa Mussa on August 10, 1985, in Ndirande, Blantyre, Malawi. His musical journey began in childhood as a member of the “Mussa Family” band, which performed at churches, weddings, and parties. His father, Pastor David Mussa, taught him to play the guitar.

Mussa is recognized in Malawi for blending traditional African rhythms with modern soul and electronic sounds. His catalog includes the songs “Desperate” (2013), “Mdidi” (2017), “Sitimadya Ndale,” and “Kalilima” (2019), as well as “Pokumbukira Mtanda,” recorded with the Mussa Family. Over the years, his work has earned him several industry honors. He won Best Male Singer at the Chirunga Awards in 2004, and his single “Desperate” won Best Single at the Music Association of Malawi (MAM) Awards in 2013. “Mdidi” earned Best Single at the Nyasa Music Awards in 2017. In 2018, he was named Best Live Act at the UMP Awards and Best Gospel Artist at the Nyasa Music Awards.

Beyond his music career, Mussa serves as an ambassador for World Vision Malawi, focusing on campaigns against child marriage. He has also taken his music to international audiences, performing at festivals such as Glastonbury and Sauti za Busara.
