About EBEN
Eben, born Emmanuel Benjamin on September 9, 1979, in Lagos, Nigeria, is a Nigerian gospel singer, songwriter, and worship leader associated with Christ Embassy. Raised as the fifth of six children in a Christian family, he began his music career in 1997, initially training as a rapper before transitioning to gospel singing. He gained prominence in 2005 following a performance at a youth conference organized by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome. He is a member of Christ Embassy and founded the record label Hammer House of Rock, also known as Hammerhouse Records.
His musical style blends gospel with Afropop, hip-hop, and highlife influences. His early breakthrough came with the song “Imaranma” in 2005. He has released several albums, including On the Rock (2007), Phenomenon (2010), Justified (2013), and Magnified (2015). He followed with the single “Victory” in 2017 and the album Victory in 2018, as well as the song “Jesus at the Centre” in 2019.
Eben has received multiple awards for his work. He won Best Male Artiste at the Africa Gospel Music Awards UK in 2012, Best Male Artiste at the National Gospel Awards Nigeria, and Best Gospel Video at the Nigerian Music Awards. In 2014, he won Album of the Year at the Crystal Awards. He also received Worship Song of the Year at the Believers World Wide (BLW) awards in 2014 and 2015. More recently, in 2020, he was honored with Male Vocalist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year at the LIMA Awards. He is married to fellow gospel singer Jahdiel (Grace Okoduwa).
