Dumi Mkokstad

Dumi Mkokstad, born Mdumiseni Nzimande, is a South African gospel singer and songwriter. He was born in Cabazana, Mount Ayliff, and grew up in Kokstad. His musical career began at the age of nine, and he released his self-titled debut album, Dumi Mkokstad, in 2003.

Throughout his career, Mkokstad has released numerous gospel albums. His 2020 album Calvary earned him the award for Best Traditional Faith Music Album at the 26th South African Music Awards. He followed this with The Overflow Gcwala Kimi in 2023, which won Best Traditional Faith Album at the 29th South African Music Awards. His song "Vumbelimnandi" won Best Gospel Songwriter at the 16th Crown Gospel Music Awards, and another song, "Safa Naye," won Best Gospel Song at the 2015 Crown Gospel Music Awards.

Mkokstad has collaborated with artists such as Vusi Nova, Blaq Diamond, and the worship collective Spirit of Praise. He also founded his own recording company, Shammah Records, further establishing his presence in the South African gospel music industry.
