Down East Boys

The Down East Boys are a Southern Gospel quartet formed in 1985. The group is based in North Carolina and took its name from the “Down East” region of the state. In 1990, the quartet transitioned to full-time ministry, and that same year Ricky Carden joined the group. Carden became the owner and manager of the Down East Boys in 1994.

Over the course of their career, the Down East Boys have recorded more than twenty projects, and more than forty of their songs have reached the top of the Singing News charts. Their recorded catalog includes songs such as “Beautiful Valley,” “Beat Up Bible,” “Testimony Time,” “I’d Like To Tell It Again,” “Amazing Amounts of Amazing Grace,” “Your Sins Are Forgiven,” and “Ready To Leave.” The group records on the Sonlite Records label.

The Down East Boys have performed at events including the National Quartet Convention, the Memphis Quartet Show, and for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. In 1990, they were named the Singing News Horizon Group of the Year. In 2025, their album Something to Shout About received a GMA Dove Award nomination for Southern Gospel Album of the Year.
