DJ Nicholas

DJ Nicholas was born Nicholas Vaccianna Eccleston on October 29, 1980, in Kingston, Jamaica. He is a gospel reggae and dancehall artist whose music also incorporates hip-hop elements.

He was raised in a Christian home but spent time in the Rastafarian faith as a teenager before returning to Christianity, citing Acts 4:12 as a pivotal scripture in his conversion. He has served as a deacon at New Life Assembly of God and has fellowshipped at Victory Place International in Florida. He is a co-founder of the outreach organization A Betta Tomorrow and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science from Broward College.

His discography includes the albums “On the Shout” (2005), “School of Volume” (2011), and “The Audiologist” (2017). Among his recorded songs are “Holy Ghost Gym,” “Holy Ghost Church,” “Things Already Better,” “Naa Bow,” and “Cut It Off.”

He has performed at the BET Celebration of Gospel. His awards include YVA Awards Gospel Artiste of the Year from 2011 to 2013, the Atlanta Caribbean Gospel Awards for Album of the Year (2012), and the Holy Hip Hop Awards for Caribbean Artiste of the Year (2012). He also received the Jamaica Sterling Awards for Album of the Year (2022) and the Bahamas Marlin Awards for Outstanding DJ Vocal Performance (2025).
