About Derek Johnson

Derek Johnson is a singer, songwriter, and worship pastor at Jesus Culture Sacramento, known for his work as a worship leader within the broader Jesus Culture movement. Born on March 5, 1987, in Roselawn, Indiana, he moved to Redding, California, in 2007 to attend Bethel Church. He went on to serve as a worship leader at Bethel Church for five years before joining the Jesus Culture team and relocating to the Sacramento area.

Johnson married Becky Fox in 2008. His debut solo album, Real Love, was released in 2015 and peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard Christian Albums chart and No. 9 on the Heatseekers Albums chart. The album helped establish his voice as a solo artist alongside his congregational worship leadership.

Over the years, Johnson has released several singles, including “The Way You Love Me” in 2020, followed by “Faith for It” and “King Jesus,” both released in 2023. He has also been featured on tracks such as “Trust In God” and “Presence Of The Lord.” In addition to his recorded music, he continues to serve as a worship pastor at Jesus Culture Sacramento, leading congregational worship and writing songs for the church community.
