Denita Gibbs

Denita Gibbs is a contemporary gospel singer, songwriter, and recording artist who also serves as a praise and worship leader. Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, she is now based in Nashville, Tennessee.

She first gained national attention as a finalist in the Vickie Winans Rising Star Talent Search. Gibbs released her debut album, Worthy, in 2004. A decade later, her 2014 album Without You reached No. 14 on the Billboard Gospel Album chart, marking a significant career milestone.

Gibbs has led worship at churches in both Birmingham and Nashville, and she operates under her own independent label, DMG Entertainment. Her singles include “Keep Holding On” (2018), “Better Believe It” (2020), “He’s Way Ahead of You” (2021), “Redeemed” (2021), “Rest” (2024), and “He Is Here” (2024).

Her work has earned multiple honors, including the 2014 Alabama People’s Choice Music Award for Female Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year. In 2023 she received the Bama Female Gospel Artist of the Year award at the 9th Annual Alabama Music Awards. Most recently, in 2025, she received a BMI Christian Award for the song “New Name Written Down in Glory.”
