About Citizen Way
Citizen Way is an American contemporary Christian music and Christian rock band that originated from Elgin, Illinois. The group formed in 2004, originally performing under the name “The Least of These.” The band was founded by brothers Ben and Josh Calhoun, together with Ben and David Blascoe. The members met while attending Judson University.
In 2012, the group changed their name to Citizen Way after signing with Fair Trade Services. The name “Citizen Way” is drawn from biblical references, specifically Philippians regarding citizenship in heaven and John 14:6 concerning Jesus as “the way.” The band has experienced various lineup changes over the years, with Ben Calhoun continuing the project.
Citizen Way released albums including Love Is the Evidence and 2.0. Among their recorded songs are “Should’ve Been Me,” “Nothing Ever (Could Separate Us),” “How Sweet the Sound,” and “When I’m With You.” The single “How Sweet the Sound” reached No. 1 on the Christian Soft AC/Inspirational chart on April 3, 2014. The album 2.0 reached the Top Ten of the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart in 2016.
