Cedar and Salt Music

Cedar and Salt Music is a Christian project curated by Shawneese Heath, an elementary school principal based in California. The project uses generative artificial intelligence to create musical compositions, including both vocals and instrumentation, with the stated goal of sharing the gospel and uplifting listeners. Musically, Cedar and Salt Music blends elements of Americana and indie-folk, offering a meditative sound that reimagines classic poetry, scripture, and hymns.

Shawneese Heath, who is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, curates the project under the label Light and Lyric. The music explores spiritual themes through original compositions and fresh arrangements of traditional material. Among the project’s catalog are songs such as “Beyond the Veil,” “All’s Right with the World,” “Let’s Be the Grace,” “Loveliness,” and “Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling,” as well as the album Hands of Gold. Additional tracks include “Remembering and Forgetting” and “Gratitude.”

By combining a modern technological tool with historic Christian texts and folk-influenced sounds, Cedar and Salt Music offers a distinctive approach to faith-based music.
