About Canton Jones
Canton Jones is a Christian hip-hop and gospel artist, songwriter, and producer. He was born Canton Dorrelle Jones on January 9, 1977, in Deerfield Beach, Florida. He began singing at age five in a vocal group founded by his father. Jones later attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, where he was a member of the school’s Glee Club.
In the late 1990s, he joined World Changers Church International. He launched his own record label, CAJO International (also referred to as Cajo Records), in 2001. Jones has also served as a youth pastor at New Hope Church in Fayetteville, Georgia. His music blends genres including Christian hip-hop, urban gospel, and contemporary R&B.
Jones released his first album, 20 Years, 3 Months & 12 Days, in 2002. He followed with The Password (2004) and Love Jones (2005). Love Jones debuted at number 11 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart. His later releases include Kingdom Business (2008), Dominionaire (2011), and Lust, Drugs, and Gospel (2014). Notable songs in his catalog include “Window” and “Praise On Go.”
Jones’s work has earned multiple Grammy Award nominations, including a nomination for Best Gospel Song for “Window” in 2012. He has also received three Gospel Choice Awards. In 2005, The Atlanta Business Journal listed him at number 19 on its “40 Under 40” list.
