About Buchi
Buchi Atuonwu, known as Buchi, is a Nigerian reggae gospel artist, songwriter, author, poet, and spoken word artist. He was born on June 24, 1964, in Kaduna, Nigeria, and holds a degree in English Language and Literary Studies from the University of Lagos.
Buchi began his career as a disc jockey in nightclubs before his conversion to Christianity. Following his faith journey, he became a member of Christ Embassy’s LoveWorld Music and Arts Ministry. He released his first gospel reggae album, “These Days,” in 1999, marking a significant transition from his earlier nightlife work to full-time ministry through music.
Over the years, Buchi has built a catalog of songs that includes “It Is Well,” “Mma Mma,” and “Jesus Must Be Honoured.” He continues to record and release new material, including the 2024 album “Alive and Well” and the 2025 single “24/7.” His work remains rooted in reggae gospel and spoken word, reflecting both his academic background and his ongoing role within the LoveWorld Music and Arts Ministry.
