About Brian Johnson
Brian Mark Johnson was born on March 17, 1978, in Redding, California, and serves as a senior worship pastor at Bethel Church in that city. He is the president and co-founder of the worship collective Bethel Music and a member of the worship duo Brian & Jenn Johnson alongside his wife, Jenn Johnson. Together they also co-founded WorshipU, an online school of worship.
Johnson has co-written numerous worship songs, including “One Thing Remains,” “No Longer Slaves,” and “Forever.” In 2013, “One Thing Remains” was recognized as the number one song for ASCAP Christian Music and the number one radio single. Beyond songwriting, he has served as an executive producer and songwriter for over sixteen albums by Bethel Music.
In 2019, Johnson authored the book When God Becomes Real, in which he shares his personal journey with anxiety and depression. His solo release Love Came Down – Live Acoustic Worship in the Studio appeared in 2010, and he and Jenn have released several albums together, including Undone (2001), We Believe (2006), Where You Go I Go (2008), and After All These Years (2017).
Johnson’s work has earned multiple GMA Dove Award nominations. He received three nominations in 2019, and in 2021 he was nominated for Worship Recorded Song of the Year for “Battle Belongs” and Worship Album of the Year for Homecoming.
