About Brian Free

Brian Free, a Southern gospel tenor, launched his career as a member of the Gold City Quartet, performing with the group from 1982 to 1993. Born in 1963, he went on to form his own ensemble, Brian Free & Assurance, in 1993. The group has since recorded for Daywind Music Group.

Over the years, Brian Free & Assurance has built an extensive discography that includes the albums 4 God So Loved (1996), Live in New York City (2005), Unashamed (2014), Beyond Amazed (2017), and the EP Meet Me At The Cross (2024). Their music has reached a wide audience through television appearances on TBN, the Gospel Music Channel, and NBC’s Today Show, as well as through 27 installments of the Gaither Video series.

The group’s work has earned significant recognition. Brian Free & Assurance won the GMA Dove Award for Southern Gospel Recorded Song of the Year in 2006 for “Long As I Got King Jesus,” and the Southern Gospel Performance of the Year in 2014 for “Say Amen.” Their 2022 song “Looks Like Jesus” was named the number one song of the year by Singing News. In 2024, the EP Meet Me At The Cross received a Grammy nomination. Brian Free was inducted into the GMA Hall of Fame in 2017, marking a milestone in a career dedicated to Southern gospel music.
