Bishop Paul S. Morton

Bishop Paul S. Morton is an American Baptist pastor, author, and gospel singer known for his leadership in both ministry and music. Born Paul Sylvester Morton Sr. on July 30, 1950, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, he built a prominent career as the senior pastor of Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. He founded the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International, a movement that grew into a major influence in African American Baptist life. In 2005, he established Changing A Generation Full Gospel Baptist Church in the Atlanta, Georgia area.

Alongside his pastoral work, Morton has built a significant gospel music catalog. His recorded songs include “God’s Got Those Healing Hands,” “We Offer Christ,” “Let It Rain,” “Bow Down,” and “Cry Your Last Tear.” He has released several albums, including Still Standing, Best Days Yet, and A Month of Sundays. His work has earned multiple Stellar Awards, reflecting his standing in gospel music.

Morton’s album Best Days Yet received a nomination for Best Gospel Album at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. In 2026, he was named an inductee into the Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame. He is also the father of musician PJ Morton, further connecting his legacy to contemporary gospel and R&B.
